Cervical Polyps
Benign growths on the cervix causing increased discharge or spotting
What are Cervical Polyps?
Cervical polyps are benign (non-cancerous) growths that develop on the cervix. They're usually small, finger-like projections and are more common in women over 40 who have had children.
Symptoms
- • Increased vaginal discharge
- • Spotting between periods
- • Bleeding after intercourse
- • Heavier menstrual bleeding
- • Usually painless
Treatment
Polyps can be easily removed in a simple outpatient procedure. The cervix is examined using a speculum, and the polyp is twisted off or excised. This is quick and generally painless.
