Key Hormone Tests for PCOD
Blood tests measure various hormone levels to identify hormonal imbalances characteristic of PCOD.
LH (Luteinizing Hormone)
Elevated LH levels are common in PCOD. LH stimulates ovulation, and high levels indicate the pituitary gland is overworking due to hormonal feedback issues.
FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone)
FSH levels are typically normal or low in PCOD. The LH:FSH ratio (usually greater than 2:1) is an important diagnostic indicator.
Testosterone (Total & Free)
Elevated androgen levels are a hallmark of PCOD. High testosterone causes symptoms like acne, hair growth, and hair thinning.
Fasting Insulin & Glucose
Insulin resistance is common in PCOD. Fasting insulin and glucose levels help assess metabolic health and guide treatment.
