What is a Pelvic Ultrasound?
A pelvic ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of the pelvic organs, including the ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes. It is a safe, painless, and non-invasive procedure that does not involve radiation.
In PCOD, the ultrasound typically shows enlarged ovaries containing 12 or more small follicles (2-9mm in diameter) arranged like a "string of pearls" around the ovary.
