Hormonal Therapy
Hormonal Therapy for PCOD
Regulating hormones to manage PCOD symptoms effectively
What is Hormonal Therapy?
Hormonal therapy uses medications to regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce the effects of excess androgens. It is particularly helpful for women who are not currently trying to conceive.
Combined Oral Contraceptives (Birth Control Pills)
Birth control pills containing estrogen and progestin regulate the menstrual cycle, reduce androgen levels, improve acne, and decrease excess hair growth. They are the most common hormonal therapy for PCOD.
Progestin Therapy
Progestin-only medications taken for 10-14 days each month help regulate periods and reduce the risk of endometrial hyperplasia in women with infrequent menstruation.
