Hormonal Changes
Increased discharge around ovulation, pregnancy, or with contraceptives
Understanding Hormonal Discharge
Changes in vaginal discharge due to hormonal fluctuations are usually normal and not a cause for concern. The female reproductive system responds to estrogen and progesterone levels throughout the menstrual cycle.
When It's Normal
- • Around ovulation (mid-cycle)
- • During pregnancy
- • When using hormonal contraceptives
- • Just before menstruation
- • Clear to white, thin, no odor
When to Consult a Doctor
If discharge becomes yellow/green, has a strong odor, causes itching or burning, or is significantly heavier than usual, it's important to get checked for possible infection or other conditions.
