Hydrocele Surgery in Kathmandu
Fluid accumulation around the testicle causing scrotal swelling? Dr Gorakh Nath Mishra provides effective hydrocelectomy with quick recovery and excellent outcomes.
What is Hydrocele?
A hydrocele is a collection of fluid in the tunica vaginalis, a thin sac surrounding the testicle. This causes painless swelling of the scrotum. Hydroceles are common and can affect one or both sides.
While hydroceles are usually harmless, they can cause discomfort, heaviness, and cosmetic concerns. In adults, they may be associated with underlying conditions like infection, trauma, or tumors. Surgical removal (hydrocelectomy) provides a permanent solution.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is hydrocele dangerous?
Hydroceles are generally not dangerous. They are benign fluid collections. However, sudden onset hydrocele in adults should be evaluated to rule out underlying conditions.
Can hydrocele be treated without surgery?
Small, asymptomatic hydroceles may not need treatment. Aspiration (drainage) provides temporary relief but fluid often re-accumulates. Surgery offers permanent solution.
How long does the surgery take?
Hydrocelectomy typically takes 30-60 minutes. It's usually done as a day procedure.
Will hydrocele come back after surgery?
Recurrence rates after hydrocelectomy are very low (less than 5%). The surgical approach removes or everts the fluid sac to prevent re-accumulation.
When can I return to work?
Most patients can return to light work within 1-2 weeks. Heavy lifting should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.
