Varicocele Treatment in Kathmandu
Enlarged veins in the scrotum can cause pain and affect fertility. Dr Gorakh Nath Mishra provides advanced microsurgical varicocelectomy to restore comfort and improve fertility outcomes.
What is Varicocele?
Varicocele is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, similar to varicose veins in the legs. It occurs when the valves inside the veins don't work properly, causing blood to pool and the veins to dilate.
Varicoceles are quite common, affecting about 15% of men. They often develop during puberty and are more common on the left side. While many varicoceles don't cause problems, they can cause pain, testicular shrinkage, and fertility issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does varicocele affect fertility?
Yes, varicoceles can reduce sperm count and quality by increasing scrotal temperature and affecting blood flow. Treatment can significantly improve fertility outcomes.
Is surgery the only option?
Not always. Small, asymptomatic varicoceles may not require treatment. Surgery is recommended for pain, testicular atrophy, or fertility concerns.
How successful is varicocele surgery?
Microsurgical varicocelectomy has a success rate of over 90% for improving pain and about 40-60% for improving fertility.
Will varicocele come back after surgery?
Recurrence rates with microsurgery are very low (less than 5%). The microscopic approach allows identification of all affected veins.
How long until I can resume sexual activity?
Most patients can resume sexual activity after 3-4 weeks once healing is complete.
