What is Trichomoniasis?
Trichomoniasis is a common sexually transmitted infection caused by a parasite (Trichomonas vaginalis). It affects both men and women but is more common in women.
Symptoms
- • Frothy, yellow-green discharge
- • Strong, unpleasant odor
- • Genital irritation and itching
- • Pain during urination or intercourse
- • Sometimes bleeding after intercourse
Treatment
Trichomoniasis is easily treated with a single dose of metronidazole. It's important that sexual partners are treated simultaneously to prevent reinfection.
