Screening Guidelines by Age
Under 21
Screening is not recommended regardless of sexual activity.
Ages 21-29
Pap smear every 3 years. HPV testing not recommended unless Pap is abnormal.
Ages 30-65
Choose: Pap every 3 years, HPV test every 5 years, or co-testing every 5 years (preferred).
Over 65
May stop if adequate prior normal screening. Discuss with your doctor.
